Buck's Corn Maze

After the pumpkin farm, we all went to find our way through a corn maze. It didn't take us as long as last year because we didn't get lost and we didn't hide in the corn to scare each other. Also, Jana was leading the way versus Mrs. Troskie and me. We all had a wonderful time enjoying the Fall weather, leaves changing colors, and spending time with each other.

Fall 2008

On Saturday, George and I went with his parents and Rob and Jana to Bert's Pumpkin Patch. The biggest pumpkin we saw was $85. However, it didn't beat our record from last year of $91!! We're not really sure what you could do with an $85 pumpkin in order to get your moneys worth. However, my mom told me that a guy in WI carved his pumpkin hollow and then used it as a boat in the water... Interesting ......

Parents in Training

After Rob (George's brother) and Jana (our sister-in-law) visited us and brought their yorkie (Charlie) for the weekend, it was love at first sight. The next day, our friend Janet asked us if we wanted their Shar-pei named Bear. Bear belonged to their daughter, but she could no longer care for him as she was busy with college. We immediately made plans to meet him. It was love at first sight. We took him home and within 2 days I wanted to give him back. I didn't realize how much attention they require. If you don't spend time training them, they'll become the alpha dog and rule your home. George encouraged me to give it a week before deciding. Well once I thought about living without those cute wrinkles of his, I quickly changed my mind. I talked to one of my other friends who owns a Mastiff and Min pin to see how she does it. She encouraged us to watch "It's Me or The Dog" to learn the psychology behind dog training. The key is spending time everyday engaging him in some sort of exercise and training. He's great company while George is at work and he's great to run with. I always feel safe around him. One of the things we are working on with him is socializing with other dogs. He no longer barks at children and buses, but is socially awkward. I introduced him to my friend Jenna's Goldendoodle and lets just say I don't think she'll be inviting us back to the dog park any time soon. Sorry Jenna :)

Our Home in Georgia (After Renovations)

Here are some pictures after renovations; although, we were told by my dad
that there is no such thing as ever "being done" with a house. Our children's college education is now at Lowe's and Home Depot. Let's pray they get scholarships

Our Home in Georgia (Prior to Renovations)

Here are some pictures of our home prior to renovations. We bought it as a foreclosure and so there was much to be done. The appliances in the kitchen were about 9 years old and so we sold them on craigslist. We posted them at 7:00 am and they were sold by 9:00 am. They must have been the hot items of the day :). The tacky green paint in the guest bedroom was definitely a no go. We tore up the carpet and replaced it upstairs. Downstairs, George and his dad labored over hardwood floors.
